Activities: 

Institute members Steve Coughlan and Teresa Scassa, along with Hugh Kindred and Robert Currie are working on a report on the extraterritorial application of laws for the Law Commission of Canada.  The Report, which was completed June 23, 2006 is titled Global Reach, Local Grasp:  Constructing Extraterritorial Jurisdiction in the Age of Globalization.

 

In the Fall of 2006  Professor Margaret Ann Wilkinson of the University of Western Ontario Law School will be a Distinguished Visitor of the Law and Technology Institute.  Professor Wilkinson will be teaching Intellectual Property Law.

 

Teresa Scassa will be giving a presentation on the privacy implications of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology at the 10th annual IT.CAN conference in Toronto on October 27, 2006.  The presentation will build on the study on RFIDs conducted by Scassa and her co-authors Michael Deturbide, Anne Uteck and Theodore Chiasson.  The study, titled:  An Analysis of Legal and Technological Privacy Implications of Radio Frequency Identification Technologies was funded through the Contributions Program of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
