IT Newsletter
The Law & Technology Institute also produces the IT.Can Newsletter/Bulletin on IT law matters, which is co-written by Professors Currie and Coughlan and Law & Technology Institute associate member, David Fraser. The Newsletter provides up-to-date summaries and write-ups of IT law developments, both in Canada and internationally, Past issues of the Newsletter can be read here.

 

Recent Publications

Professor Currie, along with LATI co-founder (and former colleague) Teresa Scassa, recently published an article in the Georgetown Journal of International Law. The article, entitled "New First Principles? Assessing the Internet's Challenges to Jurisdiction," explores the international law regarding where and when states can exercise jurisdiction over persons, places and things and how these laws have been impacted by the unique, multi-territorial nature of the Internet. Citation: (2011) 42 Georgetown J. Int'l L. 1017.

Professors Coughlan and Currie recently co-authored a chapter on electronic evidence gathering, discovery and admissibility in Canada, which is part of a major international comparative book on the subject. Electronic Evidence, edited by Stephen Mason, examines the technical and legal facets of electronic evidence, covering the law of ten different countries. It is published by LexisNexis UK, as both a hard copy text and an e-book.
