The Law & Technology Institute at the Schulich School of Law is pleased to announce the resumption of its Eminent Speakers Series. On Thursday, February 16th, we will be hosting a symposium entitled "Speech on the Internet: Danger Ahead?" Our three eminent speakers will each address pressing issues relating to how we communicate on the Internet - how free is our speech? What limits should the law allow? How do we deal with speech that injures?
The Panel will consist of:
Lisa Munro (Lerners LLP), Co-Counsel to Conrad Black in Black v. Breeden (currently pending before the Supreme Court of Canada)
Brian Awad (Burchells LLP), Counsel to Canadian Civil Liberties Association
A. Wayne McKay (Schulich School of Law), Chair, Nova Scotia Cyber-Bullying Task Force
Moderator: Professor Rob Currie, Director, Law & Technology Institute
The Symposium will be held in Room 305 of the Weldon Law Building, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

On 28 October 2011, LATI hosted "Coffee and Dessert with the Law & Technology Institute". This was a chance for students to meet the members of the LATI faculty, find out more about the Institute, and get some questions answered. The session also featured a talk by Dr. Teresa Scassa, Canada Research Chair in Information Law, entitled "Pending Technological Developments Before Parliament". Good times (and good cake) were had by all.
