The Law and Technology Institute developed from the realization that lawmakers and legal scholars face a host of challenging and complex questions as the use of new information technologies grows in all sectors of society.

Mission:

To promote scholarly legal research and advance knowledge in technology law, particularly from a Canadian perspective.

Objectives:

  • Produce academic work that
    • proposes, reacts to, and comments on new legislative policies or initiatives
    • provides in-depth analysis of difficult issues
    • provides a variety of perspectives that challenge traditional approaches
    • is useful to the judiciary, lawyers, business and consumers
