Institute Members with one of our Eminent Speakers from last year's series. |
The Law and Technology Institute developed from the realization that lawmakers, legal scholars and policy bureaucrats face a host of challenging and complex questions as the use of new information technologies grows in all sectors of society. The institute fosters interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate studies with the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie, and with other external institutions and IT-related professional associations. Law and Technology faculty and associates support Dalhousie Law School core curriculum and course offerings in information technology law issues, including internet law, law and technology, privacy law, information technology transactions, electronic commerce, biotechnology, intellectual property and commercialization of research and development projects. The Institute also organizes an IT law-related public lecture series on topical issues from a pool of national and international experts. It offers students the opportunity to conduct advanced research under the supervision of faculty on diverse cutting edge issues at the intersection of IT, law and policy.
Institute faculty and associates are involved in law and technology-related applied research and policy work.
